PSHE including RSE
PSHE = Personal, Social, Health and Economic (Education)
RSE = Relationships and Sex Education
PSHE education is a planned programme of learning opportunities and experiences that help children and young people grow and develop as individuals and as members of families and of social and economic communities. It is an important and necessary part of all pupils’ education.
All schools should teach PSHE, drawing on good practice, and this expectation is outlined in the national curriculum. As of March 2021 health and relationship education in Primary Schools is a statutory requirement.
At Stoberry we use the 'Jigsaw' scheme as our PSHE education programme to equip pupils with a sound understanding of risk and with the knowledge and skills necessary to make safe and informed decisions. We seek to use PSHE education to build, where appropriate, on the statutory content already outlined in the national curriculum, the basic school curriculum and in statutory guidance on: drug education, financial education, RSE and the importance of physical activity and diet for a healthy lifestyle.
